How secure is your business?

A new cyber security report from Symantec, called ‘Symantec’s Internet Security Threat Report’, which was released in May, 2012, throws light on major Internet security trends and threats of 2011 including mobile attacks, new focus on emerging hackers, and the fallouts of data breaches. The facts contained in the report are pretty interesting and thought provoking, to say the least!

  • Hacking is not just confined to Senior Executives and CEOs

Hackers target 58 % of their attacks on workers in HR, Sales, Executive Assistants and Media/Public Relations. This reveals hackers’ trend of targeting low-hanging fruits. No person in your team is immune from hacking

  • High profits with mobile attacks

In 2010, mobile vulnerabilities increased by almost 93.3%. “Premium SMS text messages, sent through a malware, can pay the author USD $9.99 for each text and victims not watching their phone bills are likely to be paying off the cybercriminal countless times.”

  • United States bigger source of cyber crimes than China

Except for the creation of malware and spam zombies, America is top source of various types of malicious cyber activity. Almost 13 % of all bot activities, 34 % web attacks, and half of the phishing websites were all of American origin, while witnessed a 10 % drop in malicious activities in 2011 when compared to the previous year.

  • Hundreds of millions are affected by data breaches

About 1.1 million identities were exposed due to major breach of data in 2011, with 93 % of the identities stolen from IT sectors, computer software, and healthcare sectors.
At Suyati Technologies, we take security of our data seriously – whether it belongs to our clients or us. We ensure security, authentication, privacy and access permissions at various levels, promising partners, clients, and all those who rely on us, the foremost in terms of Safety and Security.
